2026 Enforcement Now in Effect
The UCR Board recommends that states begin enforcement for the 2026 registration year on January 1, 2026. Carriers that still need to register can register here and learn more about registration here.
UCR Awareness Initiative
The UCR Enforcement Subcommittee is asking enforcement partners to participate in the biannual UCR Awareness Initiative, which will be conducted January 11-17 and June 7-13, 2026. To participate, please contact us via email. Those participating will not be required to collect data or track activity. Get full details here.
Law Enforcement Appreciation Day: January 9
Several organizations came together to create National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in 2015 to thank officers across the country for all the daily sacrifices they make for their communities. Learn how to commemorate this day.
Inspector Recognition
The inspector who noted the most UCR violations in December 2025 was Officer Scott Grimm, Illinois Commerce Commission Police. Officer Grimm issued 24 violations.
The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Enforcement Subcommittee is pleased to recognize the inspector who issues the highest number of UCR violations each month. An annual award will be presented to the inspector with the most cumulative violations over the year. The mission of the UCR Enforcement Subcommittee is to increase UCR enforcement, standardize enforcement practices, support enforcement agencies, and provide education and training resources. Policy Spotlight: Auto-Renew Policy
The UCRs Auto-Renewal program provides UCR Registrants with options for the new registration period. If the registrant joins this program, their UCR registration will automatically renew on an annual basis, on, or shortly after the opening of the new registration year. The process will continue as long as the Registrant agrees to the terms outlined in the UCR Auto-renew Policy.

Education for Compliance Training Spotlight: Enforcement Training
The UCR Enforcement Training provides an overview of the Unified Carrier Registration Plan, including who needs to register and how to do so, a guide for state employees on administrative tasks such as tracking registrations, refunding payments and conducting audits, and detailed information on what law enforcement needs to know about UCR, including inter- vs. intrastate commerce, exemptions, and common red flags.

Transportation Stocks Eye Record on Economic Growth Hopes
A gauge of U.S. transportation stocks is on track to set a record, capping a steady recovery after a long slump fueled by the global trade turmoil last year. The Dow Jones Transportation Average rose as much as 1.7% to 17,836.01 points, surpassing its most recent closing high recorded in November 2024.

2025’s peak retail season the best for trucking in years
Since 2022, loose trucking capacity, rock-bottom truckload rates, and tighter credit have been gradually squeezing carriers out of the market. New entrants who purchased tractors and trailing equipment at peak prices during COVID were at a special disadvantage, but few incumbents would have predicted the length of the current market downturn.
